In-Lake Clean-up August 2010

" Loading up the Barge"

Loading the "barge"

On August 7th 2010 the dedicated members of the Oathill Lake Conservation Society completed a second round of trash clean-up at the Lake. This time, an adventurous group dawned their finest swimwear to scavenge the waters of the lake. Tires, a fishing rod, a car seat, and many fishing lures were among the many “treasures” revealed. Thanks for all the great work! Many thanks to Clean Nova Scotia for providing supplies and garbage pick-up.

Oathill Lake Clean-up June 2010

Thanks to everyone that participated in the inaugural clean-up day of Oathill Lake on June 5th. The day was a success thanks to the 20-25 particpants, cooperative weather and with numerous bags of garbage and litter removed from the shoreline and trail.  Special thanks to Clean Nova Scotia for providing supplies and waste pick-up.

During our clean-up we found a nice surprise in the form of a message “to the people of the future”.  In the shoebox, along with the letter, were a newspaper and a candle. I imagine the candle would have been invaluable should we be trying to read the letter in the dark.

A Young Girl's Message to the People of the Future

Hopefully, now that the letter is on the internet, many people of the future can appreciate its message and see Oathill lake as its author did.

A great day for Oathill Lake
